On this day the coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II took place at Westminster Abbey. RAF Canberras flew film recordings of the ceremony across the Atlantic, the first non-stop flights between the United Kingdom and the Canadian mainland so Canadians could watch it on the same day.
